Mattu's Story of Hope

We met Mattu in Yurika Village. She had been suffering from an unknown ailment for over a year. She was emaciated and appeared hopeless.  After careful examination,  and history taking, we suspected HIV. Mattu was quickly stabilized  in the clinic and referred out with our team.  After HIV was confirmed, management was initiated with MaCHO paying all associated lab and consultation fees. Mattu followed-up at the clinic a week later with a very different outlook compared to her first visit to the clinic. We made arrangements  for continuity of care through our clinic. Thanks to this support she is in treatment now and her condition continues to improve.

The road ahead, however, for this young lady and her mother will be long and difficult. They live in a very isolated village, with limited access to transportation and food. They have lost whatever little they had in their quest to seek traditional remedies for her illness. Now Mattu's mother sells fire food to support herself and her daughter, which amounts to next to nothing considering they live so far away from the nearest village. MaCHO is supporting Mattu's family with a stipend for food, and transportation to and from her HIV appointments. Please consider supporting Mattu's journey to reclaim her wellbeing.

This is Mattu showing signs of improvement a week after her first visit with the clinic
