The Steven Klass Library was inspired by Kadija’s love of books and reading. The library was named in honor of Mr. Steven Klass, Kadija’s high school English Teacher at Pimmit Hills High School in Virginia. “He is someone who has influenced my life greatly. He is the very first person who made me believe that I could achieve all that I wanted to in my life and in Sierra Leone. I am honored to dedicate this library to him,” shares Kadija.
The Steven Klass Library will be the first of its kind, supporting education and literacy for the children and families of Yurika, Manak and the surrounding villages. Many of these families currently do not have access to any books. Books are more than a luxury, they are a path to a brighter future, and a lifeline during difficult times. Kadija shared with us about what books meant to her during Sierra Leone's civil war, "reading got me through some very difficult situations. I just got lost in the books and transformed myself to a happier place. It was truly magical."
Your support and contributions will increase education and literacy for children and families in Sierra Leone.
