Alimamy's Story of Hope

We met Alimamy in Yurika. He is a 45-year-old, who has extreme pruritic and hyperkeratotic plaques, which caused constant itching and severe scarring. He reported that he had been struggling with his symptoms for 20 years with little or no relief. Despite trying several traditional remedies, he had seen no improvement. Alimamy was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Lichen Planus (HLP), a chronic inflammatory skin condition, after ruling out other possible underlying conditions. He was then treated with donated oral and topical steroids. Alimamy follows up with the clinic on a weekly basis now and tells us that his symptoms are improving and he is finally able to sleep well for the first time in many years. Ninety-five percent of the patients we see, like Alimamy, have never seen a nurse or doctor. Your support provides relief and hope for thousands of people in the 84 villages that MaCHO serves.
